Retraceur 3.1.0 is now available.

This is a security and maintenance release whose primary purpose is to integrate the security fixes recently published in WordPress®, addressing several vulnerabilities identified in the core software.

As always with Retraceur, these fixes are reviewed and incorporated into the fork to ensure that installations running Retraceur benefit from the same level of protection.

Security Fixes

This release integrates the security fixes introduced in WordPress® 6.9.2, which addresses several vulnerabilities affecting the WordPress® core. Many thanks to the WP contributors who found and resolved them.

Including these fixes ensures that Retraceur maintains a comparable level of security while continuing to follow its own technical direction.

If you are running Retraceur in production, updating to version 3.1.0 is recommended.

Maintenance and Adjustments

Alongside the security fixes, this release also includes a few maintenance adjustments aimed at improving the overall consistency of the project.

Using the Retraceur logo inside the post preview pre-loader

When pre-loading post previews, the visual placeholder previously used the WordPress® logo.

This has been corrected: the Retraceur logo is now displayed, ensuring visual consistency with the project’s identity.

Harmonization of the Global Media settings interface

A small adjustment has also been made to the Global Media section of the Media settings administration screen introduced in the 3.0 branch.

The presentation of the setting used to define the default Open Graph image has been aligned with the interface used for the site icon setting.

The goal is simply to provide a clearer and more consistent interface, using the same interaction model for these two global media elements.

Updating

You can update to Retraceur 3.1.0 through the built-in update mechanism or by replacing the core files with those from this release.

As always, it is recommended to back up your database and the wp-content directory before updating.

Maintaining an Independent Alternative

Not every release introduces new visible features. Some releases, like this one, focus on something equally important: security and maintenance. These updates help ensure the long-term reliability of an independent alternative. Thank you to everyone who uses, tests, and follows the project 😍.
