I’m excited to announce the release of Retraceur 3.0.0-beta1 !

This marks an important milestone for the project and officially opens the testing phase for the next major version. Version 3.0.0 strengthens the core of Retraceur and lays solid groundwork for the upcoming 3.x series.

If you enjoy testing early builds, stress-testing assumptions, or simply exploring what’s next before everyone else — this beta is for you.

What’s Coming in 3.0.0

The third milestone of Retraceur core repository brings a set of meaningful improvements focused on internal consistency, predictability, and long-term maintainability.

Key highlights include:

  • Native Open Graph API support for properly exposing social metadata.
  • Improved handling of <meta> tags and document titles, with better context awareness.
  • A new “Global Media Assets” section in Media settings (site logo, default Open Graph images).
  • Internal dependency cleanups.
  • Administrative refinements and targeted fixes.
  • Removal of legacy edge behaviors to make the core more explicit and reliable.

This release is not about flashy features.
It’s about maturity.

Less implicit behavior.
More clarity.
More control.

Release Candidate Coming Soon — Fast, Not Rushed

I’ll be transparent: I’m in a bit of a sprint right now. The stable 3.0.0 release is scheduled for late February, which means the Release Candidate will likely follow shortly after this beta.

That said: fast does not mean rushed.

Quality remains the priority. If adjustments are needed, they’ll be made. If a second beta is required, we’ll have one. The goal is not to hit a date at all costs — it’s to ship a solid release.

Moving quickly, yes.
Cutting corners, no.

How to Test

  1. Install the beta in a development environment (not production).
  2. Run through your typical workflows.
  3. Pay special attention to:
    • Generated metadata,
    • Open Graph output,
    • Global media settings,
    • Plugin interactions.

If something feels off — open an issue. Even uncertainty is worth reporting.

Thank you to everyone testing, reporting, contributing, and following the project.

Retraceur keeps moving forward — deliberately, rigorously, and enthusiastically.

Release Candidate coming soon 👋
